About this site
I'm Aaron F. Anderson, a photographer and darkroom technician in San Francisco. I work at the Harvey Milk Photo Center, which is the largest public black and white darkroom in the United States. It's run by the city's Recreation and Parks department, which makes it a bit of an interesting anomaly.
I created Dorkroom.art as a collection of tools and calculators for analog photographers and printers. It started as post-it note math I was doing for members at the Photo Center, then became a way to teach myself web development, then snowballed into a full React app that probably does too much. The site is always evolving! Got web dev skills? You can contribute to it on the GitHub.
This newsletter is where I write about the making of Dorkroom, stories from the Photo Center, and my own work as a photographer. Expect thoughts on analog photography, web development, and whatever else I find interesting.
You can find me at Dorkroom.art, or reach me at aaron@affords.art and on Instagram at @a.ffords.
Views expressed here and in the newsletter are my own and not those of the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department/the Harvey Milk Photo Center, my employer.
